Core Plan
At Miami Valley Academy, we believe in educating our students through the use of high academic expectations and a rigorous curriculum that affords our students the opportunities to be successful lifelong learners as they progress through their grade-levels.
Our students are engaged in 90 minutes of reading and math each day that centers upon each student’s differentiated ability levels. Our highly-qualified staff tailors each student’s instruction to accommodate varying abilities. Miami Valley utilizes curriculum that adheres to the current common core standards and expectations for students in all grades.
Our teachers are trained in their curriculum areas, the common core standards, as well as engaging techniques that permit our students to reach their academic goals.
The Miami Valley curriculum:
Focuses on teaching students important knowledge and skills, derived from standards and key concepts at the heart of academic subjects.
Equips students to build competencies valuable for today’s world, such as critical thinking/problem solving, collaboration, communication, and creativity/ innovation, which are taught and assessed.
Encourages students to engage in a rigorous, extended process of asking questions, using resources, and developing answers.
